Day 34: Looping through the Kootenays from Castlegar to Trail to Christina Lake
Waking up to thunderstorms this morning was a big change from all the recent sunny skies but the ambassador team found it refreshing and Bubbles did too!
With clearing skies we visited all the return collection facilities in Castlegar where locals can return used oil, plastic oil containers, and oil filters.
Day 33: Spreading our message in Invermere and Cranbrook to keep the Kootenay River clean!

Driving along the Kootenay River, the ambassadors are once again reminded of how important it is to get their message out to as many people as possible: One drop of oil makes a difference… it is an awful thought to imagine this beautiful river being contaminated by even a single drop of used oil!
In the community of Cranbrook, we came across many environmentally conscious employees at the local return collection facilities.
Day 32: Starting in Sicamous, through Rogers Pass to Golden

Starting the day off in Sicamous, the ambassador team visited Sicamous Auto Repair and Integra Tire, the two local return collection facilities.
Integra Tire happens to be located next to an ice cream shop that, in the ambassadors’ opinion, may be one of the best across the province… a little further incentive to make the trek and return your used oil in this hot weather!
Then we journeyed through the breath-taking Canadian Rockies to reach Golden:

We first checked in with Petro Canada Bulk Oil Station at 820 – 10th Ave. N.
Day 31: Thumbs Up for Vernon and Salmon Arm Recyclers
The sun continued to shine on the Ambassador team through Vernon and Salmon Arm! Visits to the local return collection facilities in both of these towns encouraged us so much because everyone is being so responsible and environmentally conscious.
Day 29: Sunny Kelowna
Kelowna is a sunny paradise with mountains, lakes and sandy desert all around! Here is a picture of us with quite a bit of oil at the friendly return collection facility, the Autoplace:
We visited all 9 local return collection facilities to check in and see how the program is running in this city. We are happy to share that we heard overwhelmingly positive feedback about how responsible everyone is when returning their used oil!
Day 28: Driving Along the Okanagan Lake Shores
Continuing our travels through the fabulously hot and sunny Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District, we visited Okanagan Falls, Penticton and Westbank.
Day 27: Our Long Haul to Oliver
Oliver is located in the orchard filled Okanagon-Similkameen Regional District, a long and beautiful drive from our home in Vancouver!
There are five local collection facilities in the warm and sunny town of Oliver. Below are some pictures of the Oliver Landfill where they will happily accept your used oil, oil filters and plastic oil containers.
Day 25: Locating the Local Collection Facilities in Langley
While driving through Langley today, we came across a road sign with some great driving advice which we Ambassadors have been trying to abide by throughout our summer travels:
Plan your trips to avoid traffic jams, steep hills and construction zones. This will help to decrease your fuel consumption.
The ambassadors are speaking from personal experience when we assure you that, as simple as it might sound, this is great advice!
Luckily for Langley, there are nine different return collection facilities to choose from.
Day 24: The Ambassador Team Jump for Joy in White Rock
Delta and White Rock were wonderful and although the sun wasn’t shining today, there was a lot of very bright smiling faces waiting to greet us at the local drop off facilities in both cities.
Below you can see us jumping for JOY over USED OIL RECYCLING!
Delta is home to the Vancouver Landfill. Here are some simple instructions to get there from Vancouver:
- Take HWY 99 South over the Oak Street Bridge.
- Continue on HWY 99 through the George Massey Tunnel, then take
- Exit 28 to River Road North.
Day 23: Chillin in Chilliwack Part 2
Cruising around Chilliwack today, we checked in with more of the local collection facilities. Two of the return collection facilities we visited are located just outside of town to make it even more convenient to recycle your used oil, oil filters and plastic oil containers:
1) Vedder Motors located at 5651 Vedder Road and
2) Greendale Motors located at 6412 Sumas Prairie Road
*Oil recycling tip of the day:
Avoid contaminating your used oil with other materials such as gasoline, coolant, or even rain water.
