We spent the weekend in Prince George

July 10, 2011

It doesn’t seem like it’s July up here as it hasn’t stopped raining for the last few days, and is expected to rain for another week! This has caused abnormally high levels of the Fraser River, which has led to flood warnings for the Peace Region just east of us, as well as highway closures along highway 16. We are keeping a close watch on weather reports and highway closures as we will be travelling the North for the next two and a half weeks. According to this CBC article water levels for the Fraser River in Prince George have been rising 5cm every hour. As of 5:30pm Sunday evening, a state of emergency has been declared in Prince George. Some homes have been evacuated and flooding is expected here soon. Read about it here.

We will be leaving town tomorrow morning; heading west to Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Burns Lake.
