Day 1: Meet this year's Ambassadors!

May 9, 2011

Welcome everyone to the kick-off of the 2011 B.C. Used Oil Management Association Summer Ambassador program! Throughout the summer, two ambassadors (Amara Janssens and Tiffany Rennick) will be traveling all across the province to promote the message that a single drop makes a big impact. Here is a little bit about these ambassadors:
Amara Janssens
Age: 20
Hometown: Langley, B.C.

Amara is a communication student at Simon Fraser University and will be entering her third year of studies this fall. She has worked as lifeguard for the past four years in her hometown of Langley, B.C. This summer, Amara looks forward to feeding her travel bug by traveling British Columbia to promote the messages of BC Used Oil Management Association. In her free time, Amara enjoys spending time with her puppy, cooking and going to pilates classes.
Tiffany Rennick
Age: 20
Hometown: Port Coquitlam, B.C.

Tiffany is a commerce student at the University of British Columbia, specializing in marketing and sustainability. She strives to incorporate sustainability in everyday life, which includes a lot of walking and biking as well as recycling as much as possible. Tiffany is enthusiastic about being able to learn more about the different sustainability oriented stewardship programs in B.C. and getting to see more of the beautiful province. Tiffany likes to bake, bike, sew, and play soccer in her free time.

We are very excited to be participating in this great program, which is all about safely recycling used oil, used oil containers, and used oil filters. Starting July 1st, used antifreeze and antifreeze containers will also become a part of the program.

Along with representing the B.C. Used Oil Management Association, we have partnered with three other stewardship associations – the Electronics Stewardship Association of B.C., Product Care, and the Post Consumer Pharmaceutical Stewardship Association (Medications Return). They all are great programs, and we are eager to help them get their important messages to British Columbians.

Join us on this exciting journey across B.C. by following this blog and looking out for our cool oil-covered Volkswagen Jetta TDI. If you would like some more information on the program or any of the stewardship associations, check out these great websites:
