Day 44: Prince George… a prince when it comes to recycling!
The recycling efforts we’ve seen in Prince George have been fantastic!
There are two transfer stations in Prince George:
1) The Quinn Street Transfer and Recycling Station is located at 1687 Quinn St.
2) The Vanway Transfer and Recycling Station is located at 6556 Broddy Rd. Unfortunately, this address has not yet made it on to Google maps but it’s very easy to get to. Just follow the #16 Hwy South past the Canadian Tire and Walmart. Then make a right on Westgate and it’s your next right onto Broddy Rd.
In the summer, both transfer stations are open Mon-Sat from 7:00-7:00 and Sun 10:00-7:00. They accept all sorts of hazardous waste, including:
Used oil, oil filters, plastic oil containers, cardboard, paper, milk jugs, cans, residential garbage, antifreeze, auto batteries, propane, bottles, P/LT tires without rims and scrap metal.
With both transfer stations plus 15 other return collection facilities in town, it is very easy and convenient to make sure that every drop of used oil gets responsibly recycled! And remember, even if it’s not always super convenient, it is so important to ensure that you are always recycling as much as you can so we can all help to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our landfills.
We ambassadors have trucked along a large bag of recyclable materials for a few weeks now. It was a great sense of relief when we were finally able to dispose of these materials knowing that they would be recycled… I think Bubbles would agree that it was well worth carrying around the bit of extra weight for awhile!!
