Day 36: Tree Loving on Vancouver Island
The Ambassador team is on Vancouver Island again and enjoying every minute of it!
Visiting Parksville, Port Alberni, and Courtenay has been special treat for the ambassador team because, we not only get to travel along the beautiful coastline of BC, but we were also able to stop and walk around in Cathedral Grove!
Cathedral Grove is part of MacMillan Provincial Park and is home to some Douglas Firs that are over 800 years old! It is a quick stop off the highway, so if you are ever on your way to Port Alberni, be sure to take a few minutes to appreciate the grand scale of these trees. The ambassador team found the forest to be a truly inspirational reason to ensure that every drop of oil is responsibly recycled so that our beautiful BC environment is protected!

Return collection facilities on the Island have all been very positive and friendly. They are happy to provide an environmentally responsible way for locals to recycle their used oil, plastic containers, and oil filters!
Conveniently for community members in Port Alberni, one of the collectors for used oil, Hetherington Industries, is located right in town at 4715 Roger Street. They will accept an array of hazardous waste materials and operate Mon-Sat from 8:30am – 4:30pm. Call 250-724-5112 to inquire about responsibly returning any of your hazardous waste materials.
Remember to visit usedoilrecycling.com and input your postal code to find the locations closest to you where you can return your used oil, filters and plastic containers.
