Day 34: Looping through the Kootenays from Castlegar to Trail to Christina Lake
Waking up to thunderstorms this morning was a big change from all the recent sunny skies but the ambassador team found it refreshing and Bubbles did too!
With clearing skies we visited all the return collection facilities in Castlegar where locals can return used oil, plastic oil containers, and oil filters. The facilities are:
- Canadian Tire (at 2000 Columbia Ave)
- Esso Imperial Oil Agent (at 2201 6th Ave)
- Ernie’s Used Auto Parts (at 2801 Minto Rd)
- Glacier Honda (at 1602 Columbia Ave)
- OK Tire & Auto Service (at 2141 Columbia Ave)
With these 5 friendly options in Castlegar there is no excuse not to ensure that every drop of oil is responsibly recycled!
Bubbles even made some more friends at Ernie’s Auto Recyclers:
Obtaining used car parts for use in your vehicle is another way that you can recycle and help to minimize the amount of waste that ends up in the landfill!
After Castlegar, we took Bubbles back onto the highway and headed for Trail.
We met more friendly folks in Trail who want to ensure that used oil is kept out of the environment and is responsibly recycled.
If you live in Trail you have 4 return collection facilities to bring your used oil to:
- Canadian Tire
- Mota Automotive
- Waneta Auto Recyclers
- Warfield Shell
The ambassador team would also like to spread the word about recycling other household materials that can be hazardous to the environment and your local pharmacy can ensure this happens.
If you have any unused prescriptions, over the counter medications, minerals and vitamins, or cough drops you can return them to any pharmacy free of cost and they will ensure it is all responsibly disposed of.
Remember, every time you make the environmentally responsible choice, you are making a difference!
