June 20, 2009

Nanaimo was a very interesting town, filled with many facilities where you can drop off your used oil and many helpful people to make recycling responsibly an easy task!

We visited the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange and were greeted by a staff of friendly recyclers! It is conveniently located in central Nanaimo, on Kenworth Street just off the North Island Highway. The Nanaimo Recycling Exchange has a very good set up to contain used oil, plastic oil containers and oil filters, so be sure to bring your materials to this location or any other of the drop off facilities in Nanaimo.

It is important to ensure that every drop of oil is recycled, because every drop of oil makes a difference, but it is also important to recycle other materials as well.

Nanaimo Recycling Exchange accepts:
Paper
Plastics
Metal
Glass
Beverage Containers

And many hazardous materials including:
Paint
Solvents
Flammable Liquids
Mercury Switches
Antifreeze
Diesel
Vegetable Oil
Aerosol Paint Cans
Pesticides
Batteries
Ballasts
And even Gasoline!

Of course, they also take your used oil, plastic oil containers, and oil filters! As you can see this facility accepts almost everything so make sure you are recycling as much as you can to keep our landfills clear and our environmental beautiful!
